Couples therapy
For two people whose worlds meet at one table
It helps couples where faith, language, food, family or the way you were raised pull in different directions, and couples who simply want to hear each other better.
Both of you come to every session, in the office or by video. Each of you gets time to speak, and your clinician helps you notice the pattern between you rather than deciding who is right.
Eighty minutes, with both of you
In English or in Spanish
In person in Carmel, or by video in Indiana

What to expect
The method, the pace and what this is not
What sessions look like
We start by asking what each of you hopes the room will be. After that, sessions follow what is happening between you that week.
The method
Your clinician draws on emotionally focused therapy and Gottman-informed work, and tells you which they use and where they trained.
What this is not
It is not religious counseling, a vote on whose family is right, or a way to decide whether you stay together. That decision is yours.
Length and frequency
Your clinician sets the pace with you. Many couples start every week or every other week. We do not promise a number of sessions.
You pay at the end of each session, and you get a written estimate first if you pay without insurance.
Questions
Three questions about couples therapy
Do both of us have to come?
Yes. Alcove sees the two of you together, and we do not offer individual sessions.
What if we speak different languages at home?
Andres sees couples in English and in Spanish, and a session may move between them. Sanaa sees couples in English.
Can we bring a family member?
Yes, if you both ask. We talk first about what each of you wants from that session.
